Piercing types depend directly on the part of body which is pierced. From piercing history we can find out that some piercing types were practiced many years ago and various evidences of this fact can be found throughout the history. Today there is a great variety of piercing types and they can be broadly divided into three categories: the most popular and common, less common and more complicated and finally extreme piercings.
Ear, nose, lip and tongue piercings are the most common and popular among those who are fond of piercing. Ear piercing considered to be the most popular and even primitive piercing type, however it's not actually so as far as there are lots of variants of ear penetration and some of them such as cartilage industrial, orbital and helix piercings are rather complicated and undoubtedly not for everyone as for example earlobe piercing. Nose piercing is the second in popularity and came to our culture from India. There are three basic types of nose piercing: nostril (one or two nostrils are punctured), nasal septum (puncturing of the small space of skin between the very bottom of the nose and cartilage) and bridge piercing (piece of skin at the very top of the nose between the eyes is punctured).
Lip and tongue piercing are oral piercing types. There are two categories of lip piercing types: upper and lower lip piercings. The most popular upper piercing is Madonna/Monroe (the skin above the upper lip is punctured in the very place where Mondo had her birthmark) and the most popular lower piercing is lip ring (the piece of skin right under the lower lip is pierced). All piercings can be done either in the middle or on each side, moreover multiple piercings are also very popular. Tongue piercing is simply tongue puncture, however it should always be correctly performed so that vitally important vessels are not damaged.
Female genital piercing types gain more and more popularity nowadays, although they are rather complicated and dangerous. The most popular pussy piercing types are clit piercing, hood piercing and labia piercing. Clit piercing is exactly the penetration of a clitoris which should be done only by professional in order not to damage the main sensory nerve. Hood piercing presupposes horizontal or vertical puncture of the clitoris hood. Double and triandle piercings are also possible. Labia piercing is a singe or multiple penetration of the outer or inner labia.
Extreme piercing types are the most dangerous and risky. This type of body modification includes implants and beading, scarification and branding. Implantation is putting scrotal implants, 3-D implants and beading implants made of special medical materials under the skin. Although implantation is not an open wound, it's a complicated process which requires serious and proper consideration and aftercare. Scarification is creating scars on one's skin, which also includes branding and cutting. Notice that extreme piercing is not for everyone! Before choosing this kind of body modification, you have to learn about it as much as possible in order to take a reasonable decision and be ready for it both psychologically and physically! |
